The Sikkim Start-Up Search was Alsisar Impact’s flagship initiative, designed to catalyse Himalayan entrepreneurship and support the next generation of impact-driven enterprises from Sikkim. As a pioneer in catalysing Himalayan entrepreneurship, Alsisar Impact launched this initiative to enable global brands from Sikkim while building a future that is nature-first, Himalaya-first, and indigenous-first. Conducted twice over the past two years, the program focused on identifying startups led by founders of Sikkim origin who were building innovative solutions with strong social, environmental, and economic relevance.
Through The Sikkim Start-Up Search, Alsisar Impact provided mentoring support, enterprise building, and investment readiness support, with a strong emphasis on empowering women founders and locally rooted enterprises. The initiative has resulted in a growing portfolio of Sikkim-based ventures, including Crafted Fibers, Bayul Creations, Sajilo Services, Agapi, NE Origins, and Shimpu Guras, which continue to form part of Alsisar Impact’s active work in the region today.

ALSiSAR IMPACT at UNFCCC Bonn - 2025
ALSiSAR IMPACT was invited to host two special press conferences at the UNFCCC Bonn, recognising over a decade of work supporting local and Indigenous enterprises across the Himalayas and Northeast India. We highlighted the fundamental right of Indigenous and local communities to own their natural resources, build scalable enterprises, and lead climate-resilient economies, calling for a shift from charity-based approaches to sustainable venture-building models. Our message was clear: Indigenous people must be seen as equal economic partners, with fair access to finance, markets, and tools to build their own brands and “lighthouse ventures.” True climate action lies at the intersection of social equity, economic strength, and environmental stewardship—because protecting our planet requires balancing profit with purpose and empowering the real custodians of biodiversity to lead the way.

South-Asian Women Entrepreneurs’ Round Table Conference – 2023
ALSiSAR Impact convened the South-Asian Women Entrepreneurs’ Round Table Conference on April 19, 2023, at the World Trade Centre in Mumbai. The event brought together women entrepreneurs from across geographies, ethnicities, religions, and age groups for a focused dialogue on the intersection of gender, entrepreneurship, and systemic exclusion. Designed as a safe and inclusive forum, the round table created space to surface critical barriers faced by women in the startup ecosystem, particularly those from marginalized castes, tribes, and underrepresented regions. Key themes included representation disparities in the entrepreneurial landscape, regional and caste-based investment biases, and the gendered impact of climate change on enterprise and livelihood. Despite the gravity of issues discussed, the session fostered a strong sense of solidarity and optimism, inspiring participants, many of whom are first-generation founders, to challenge entrenched norms, scale their ventures, and emerge as lighthouse entrepreneurs in their respective communities
